Kenneth Okonkwo severed his ties to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential standard-bearer for the 2023 elections, in a seismic upheaval that shook the political world.
In a harsh statement that was published on his X page on Sunday, Okonkwo did not hold back in denouncing Peter Obi as dreadfully weak and unsure of himself, unable to take on the country’s enormous difficulties head-on.
The veteran actor who is now a politician said that his determination to carve out a new route for his political career has been strengthened by the tumultuous events occurring within the Labour Party.
He conveyed his extreme dismay at Peter Obi’s flagrant disrespect for creating a powerful, honorable party rather than taking advantage of the opportunity to rally a robust political base.
Kenneth Okonkwo claims that Obi’s bold declaration that his goal was to fix Nigeria’s issues rather than to establish a powerful Labour Party further shocked him, completely ignoring the necessity of a strong political base in order to weaken the opposition’s hold.
He criticized Peter Obi for his conspicuous inability to disassociate himself from the continuous unrest and purported illicit activities that beset the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party, as well as for his lack of backing for the union’s unwavering fight for the welfare of its members.
Okonkwo claimed that this betrayal had only served to highlight Obi’s lack of the foresight and decisiveness needed to lead Nigeria out of its current predicament.
In addition to expressing his grievances, Okonkwo denounced the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as being actively working to thwart Nigeria’s advancement and acting as helpless tigers unable of leading the nation to glory.
He underlined that Nigeria sorely needs a strong political organization with a solid grassroots base and a leader who has the unwavering determination to topple the PDP and APC’s established authority.
