The Kwara State Police Command has made significant progress in the investigation into the suspicious disappearance and subsequent death of Awesu Mojisola, a 21-year-old student of Kwara State College of Health Technology.
The incident, which was reported on August 13, 2024, by Mojisola’s roommate, Ogungbenro Blessing, initially seemed mysterious but has since led to the arrest and parading of several suspects involved.
According to the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, the main suspect, Adebayo Joshua Happiness, an expelled student from Summit University, Offa, had lured Mojisola under false pretenses to a hotel in Ilorin, where he committed the crime. Adebayo invited her to what he described as a “sign-out” party, promising a financial reward. However, instead of a celebration, Mojisola was brutally murdered, and her body was later disposed of unlawfully by hotel staff.
Adebayo’s parents and other accomplices have also been implicated, particularly for their attempts to tamper with evidence. His mother, Mrs. Adeniyi Bukola, was caught hiding the SIM card from the deceased’s iPhone, which was originally believed to have been discarded in a river. The police have confirmed that all suspects are in custody and will be charged with criminal conspiracy and other related offenses once investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police assured the public that the suspects would face the full extent of the law, and further updates on the investigation will be provided as they progress【41†source】.
