Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has become the center of attention after a troll was apprehended by the police, following her report.
This incident has led to accusations against Toyin of being a ‘bully’, arresting the boy’s mother, and using her influence to ‘oppress’ the troll. However, Toyin firmly denies these claims, stating:
TOYIN ABRAHAM: “I made a report at cybercrime because the threats to my life and curses against my family were beyond what I could tolerate. Abuse me, insult me, say anything to me—please, feel free. I will accept and take it in because I’m in the public eye. But cursing kids and lying is something I won’t accept, and I NEVER and will NEVER arrest anyone’s mom. I made a report at cybercrime as a citizen.”
The controversy began after an X user named Ayo, now trending with the hashtag #FreeAyo, posted a defamatory tweet about Toyin Abraham: “Mrs @toyin_abraham1 walai aiye e ti ta!! You collect Tinubu money use do hair transplant for your husband…Stupid fool.” This tweet reportedly triggered the entire situation.
Fellow actor Deyemi Okanlawon has since added his voice to the conversation, receiving mixed reactions. Deyemi appealed to Toyin via Twitter, saying:
DEYEMI OKANLAWON: “My dear sister @toyin_abraham1, I know you to be a very kind, loving person & also know that beyond filing a petition you have neither the intention nor the power to force an arrest, so I ask that you please temper justice with mercy. I’ve seen the threats against you and your family because of your political choices, and while I understand how frustrating and scary they are, please understand that they’re mainly empty threats borne out of the anger we all share. Jo ma binu, please withdraw this case and let peace reign.”
Deyemi’s comments have elicited a range of responses. One user advised, “Deyemi, please just rest. I no too dey like this modern day actors, but I like you, please don’t get dragged into this issue and stain your white,” while another praised, “That’s why I like Deyemi. Others will not talk.”
The unfolding drama continues to spark debate across social media, with opinions divided on Toyin Abraham’s actions and Deyemi Okanlawon’s plea for mercy.
