VeryDarkMan, a popular Nigerian social media activist, recently testified before a House of Representatives panel regarding bribery allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) .
This all started when he shared a voice recording exposing corruption in Nigeria, specifically alleging that Bobrisky, a Nigerian crossdresser, bribed EFCC officers with N15 million to drop money laundering charges .
The recording revealed that Bobrisky was supposed to serve six months in Kirikiri prison but was instead kept in a comfortable apartment near the prison after paying some prison officials . This audio leak caught the attention of many online, including the Minister of Interior Affairs, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, leading to a re-investigation of the allegations . Two prison officials were suspended pending further investigation, and both VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky were invited to assist in the investigation .
On September 26, the House of Representatives decided to investigate the bribery accusations made by VeryDarkMan . A video showed VeryDarkMan arriving at the National Assembly in Abuja, dressed in traditional Edo attire, accompanied by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, and a herbalist . Initially, VeryDarkMan refused to speak without Bobrisky’s presence, but eventually addressed the panel, explaining how he obtained the voice recording and confirming it was not AI-generated .
