Indigenous rapper Adekunle Idowu, also known as Idowest, has announced his decision to identify as Igbo, despite being Yoruba by birth. This shift in identity comes amidst his frustration with the country’s difficulties and the resistance from some Yorubas against the proposed #EndBadGovernance protest.
Idowest expressed his discontent on Snapchat, criticizing those opposing the protest and calling them sentimental. He remarked: “Your father voted for Tinubu, and you support the no-protest stance, yet you have the audacity to bill me. The world is indeed a harsh place.”
He continued: “It’s absurd to see Yoruba people clamoring for Yoruba unity while ignoring the real issue of bad governance. From now on, I identify as Igbo.”
Idowest condemned those selling their future for mere money, stating: “Nigerians are their own problem! Some are planning peaceful protests, while others are actively opposing them for 1500 naira. How can one say no to protest over such a small amount? Your situation is worsening.”
