Indian billionaire Ratan Tata, who passed away on October 9, 2024, at 86, left a lasting legacy through his £91 million estate.
His will, valued at Rs 10,000 crore, reveals a remarkable distribution of his wealth among charity, family, loyal staff, and a surprise beneficiary – his beloved German shepherd, Tito.
The Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation (RTEF) is set to receive the bulk of his estate, including stakes in Tata Sons and other Tata Group companies. His family members, including brother Jimmy Tata and half-sisters Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy, are also named as beneficiaries.
In a heartwarming gesture, Tata ensured the lifelong wellbeing of Tito, adopted 5-6 years ago, by allocating “unlimited care” provisions in his will. Rajan Shaw, Tata’s trusted cook, who already cared for Tito, will continue to do so with resources ensured by Tata’s estate.
Additionally, Tata’s loyal household staff, including butler Subbiah and executive assistant Shantanu Naidu, are recognized for their dedication with allocations in the will. This thoughtful distribution of his wealth reflects Tata’s compassion, gratitude, and commitment to those who mattered most to him.
