Billionaire Obi Cubana has shed light on the opulent funeral he organized for his mother in 2021.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Cubana disclosed that his family has a pattern of not reaching the age of 80, with his father, grandfather, and uncle all passing away before that milestone.
Eager to overcome this “generational curse,” Cubana made a point to celebrate his mother’s birthdays with great enthusiasm, hoping she would surpass the age of 80 and beyond.
Despite his mother passing away at 78, Obi Cubana and his siblings chose to give her a grand burial, utilizing funds originally intended for her 80th birthday celebration.
Cubana shared:
“In my family, this is the first time I’m speaking about it: no one has lived to be 80. My father passed away at 66, my uncle at 75, and my grandfather at 78.
I told my mother that she would break this cycle. I assured her that for her burial, it would be a grand event, and we began saving specifically for that.”
“I believe she passed away on December 31st at the age of 78 and a half. We were eagerly anticipating her 80th birthday, but things turned out differently. Nevertheless, we chose to celebrate her life, as she came very close to breaking the cycle.”
