Pregnancy is often painted as a beautiful and joyous journey, but for me, it was quite the opposite.
As a Nigerian woman, I had always heard about the joy of motherhood, but no one really spoke about the struggles that come with it.From the very start, I experienced extreme nausea and fatigue.
Simple tasks like getting out of bed or preparing meals became challenging. My body felt foreign to me as I went through dramatic physical changes. I faced a lot of discomfort, and sleep became a distant friend. In addition to the physical toll, there were emotional challenges too.
There were moments when I felt overwhelmed and isolated. Society expects women to embrace pregnancy with open arms, but it wasn’t always easy for me.While I am grateful for the gift of life growing inside me, I also want to share that pregnancy can be difficult.
It’s okay to acknowledge that it’s not always a smooth or magical experience. Every woman’s journey is different, and it’s important to be open about both the highs and lows.
