Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, are making waves with their incredible generosity. They’ve just announced that their Mercyisblessed Foundation will be giving full scholarships to 100 lucky students at the University of Calabar (UNICAL). That’s right – full scholarships covering all school fees and even extra support!
The couple visited the university on July 12, 2024, to share the good news, and you can imagine the excitement among the students. Mercy Chinwo, known for her hit song “Excess Love,” said this gesture is her way of giving back to the community that helped shape her. She shared her fond memories of Port Harcourt, where she grew up and learned to dream big.
Mercy said, “Port Harcourt is home to me any day. The memories are fresh of a city where I dared to dream and hope for a purposeful life. I thank the Lord for His work in me and through me so far. The scholarship is to inspire students that their dreams and ambitions are valid and not to give up because there is a God who has ‘Excess Love’.”
These scholarships are effective immediately, and details on how eligible students can apply will be shared soon. This isn’t the first time Mercy and Pastor Blessed have shown such kindness; back in April, they also awarded scholarships to 50 students at the University of Port Harcourt.
