Imagine saving up a whopping N15 million with dreams of moving to Canada, only to be scammed and left with nothing. That’s the heartbreaking story of a man who now works as a bus conductor in Lagos.
The story came to light when a user on X, @faleyeibrahim, shared his encounter. On his way to Lagos State University (LASU), he boarded a bus and noticed the conductor was not like the usual ones. He was slow, uncoordinated, and seemed new to the job.
Curiosity got the better of @faleyeibrahim, especially when he saw the man occasionally wiping away tears. Upon asking, the man revealed his ordeal. He had saved up N15 million and handed it over to a travel agent to help him relocate to Canada. Unfortunately, the agent vanished with the money, leaving him stranded and desperate.
@faleyeibrahim shared his thoughts in a series of tweets:
“This morning on my way to LASU, I boarded a bus. Immediately, someone came down to take a call and asked for her change. The conductor was so slow that it almost led to a fight.
Throughout the journey, we noticed he was sluggish and not as sharp as other conductors. At some points, he would cry and quickly wipe his tears before continuing. This happened about three times.
It turns out today was his first day as a conductor. He paid about N15 million to an agent for relocation to Canada, but they duped him. You could feel his sorrow every time he cried.
He took up the conductor job just to survive. I really felt bad for him. His mind was clearly not in the job, and he cried every time he remembered his loss.
He was so handsome, and everyone felt for him. May God restore his loss and protect us from such trials. Amen.”
