Kenneth Okonkwo, renowned actor and politician, has voiced his disapproval of comments made by comedian and fellow actor Okey Bakassi.
Okonkwo’s criticism centers on Bakassi’s recent remarks about Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
On Saturday, Kenneth Okonkwo took to Instagram to address a video where Okey Bakassi questioned Obi’s ability to protect the votes of Nigerians. In the video, Bakassi expressed doubts about Obi’s capacity to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
Okonkwo’s response highlights his disagreement with Bakassi’s view, reflecting his stance on the matter and his support for Peter Obi.
Okey said:
“What I want to ask is, Nigerians are galvanised to vote for you. Do you have the capacity to defend our votes?”
In an extended Instagram post, Kenneth Okonkwo responded sharply to Okey Bakassi, accusing him of hypocrisy and criticizing his career.
His caption included the following:
“If this hypocrite believed PO had the capacity to defend our votes, why ask him?
“No wonder he was hiding under his mother’s bed during the campaign while we were risking our lives fighting for the votes, which were later on not defended.”
The actor also criticised Okey’s contributions to Nollywood, stating:
“First of all, in all his movie life, I am not aware of any movie where he played the lead role that ever made a hit.
“It’s not unusual for failures to try to get traffic in their interviews by twisting facts about notable names. Little minds discuss people, and they do it dishonestly.”
“I don’t care what hypocrites and opportunists like Okey Bakassi say. Pretenders and sycophants say and do the worst at the back.”
