Professional footballer Jude Ighalo has voiced his support for fellow player Victor Osimhen, who has faced criticism following his unsuccessful transfer attempts.
Victor Osimhen was previously linked with a move to Chelsea and received a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli during the transfer window. However, neither deal was finalised.
As a result, Osimhen has been left out of Napoli’s first squad, with his jersey number now given to Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku.
Jude Ighalo expressed his disappointment at the backlash Osimhen has faced from his fellow Nigerians over the failed transfers, noting that people are quick to judge without understanding the full story.
He emphasised that everyone makes mistakes and that it is important to remember this. After speaking with Osimhen, Ighalo could sense the young player’s pain but remains optimistic that he will recover and return even stronger.
Ighalo said, “Nobody is perfect, and we’ve all made mistakes in life. It saddens me to see the comments about this young man from his own people without knowing what really happened. I spoke to him and could feel the pain in his voice because of the way he’s been treated. This young man plays with heart and dedication for his country. He’ll come back stronger. We learn every day in life… Happy new month to everyone.”
