The Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended actress Halima Abubakar indefinitely following an extensive investigation. The Guild’s probe allegedly uncovered evidence linking Abubakar to slanderous online posts targeting fellow actors, associates, and patrons.
According to the AGN’s statement, Abubakar was found to be the mastermind behind the malicious online campaigns, particularly those alleging extramarital affairs involving high-profile individuals.
As a result, the AGN has imposed an indefinite suspension on Abubakar, effective immediately. During this period, she is barred from participating in any film productions and will face a disciplinary panel to determine the full extent of her punishment.
The Guild’s swift action aims to maintain professionalism and protect its members from defamation and cyberbullying. The AGN reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity and dignity of its members, associates, and patrons, emphasizing that it will not tolerate harmful or malicious behavior from any member.
The suspension’s impact on Abubakar’s career remains uncertain. The outcome of the disciplinary panel’s review will determine her future in the Nigerian film industry. This development serves as a stern warning to industry professionals, emphasizing the importance of responsible behavior and respect for colleagues.
