Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, has stirred discussions with a recent sermon.
He announced his decision to stop attending or officiating weddings of male church members who marry women outside the ministry.
In a video shared on the church’s social media pages, Suleman highlighted the significance of shared spiritual values in marriage. He expressed concern over the increasing number of pastors and male congregants choosing spouses from other churches, which he believes often leads to unstable unions.
Suleman asserted that marriages lacking a foundation of shared beliefs are more likely to face challenges, urging male members to prioritize spiritual compatibility when selecting a partner.
The cleric’s position has sparked diverse reactions. While some individuals agree with his perspective, others view it as overly rigid.
One commenter, Adeolu, stated, “He has a point. A lady under his teaching will listen to his advice.” Another, AGeneral, countered, “Being a church girl is even a turnoff for me. Marriage is cultural, not a church thing.”
Others chimed in with varying opinions. Christopherugwu4 questioned, “Will you attend the wedding of a guy from another church who marries a lady from your church?” Bigg Jones remarked, “He is their father, and he’s trying to protect his own,” while ONYECHE added humor, saying, “See how that girl is shaking her head; she’s happy her husband will soon come.”
