Nollywood actress and singer Portable’s babymama, Ashabi, has taken to social media to share her New Year’s resolution, and it’s all about setting boundaries. In a no-nonsense post, Ashabi warned her colleagues and vendors to respect her worth and not expect her to work for free.
Ashabi made it clear that if anyone wants her to be part of their project, they must include payment in their budget. She emphasized that she won’t hesitate to say no to any opportunity that doesn’t align with her values or compensate her fairly.
The mother of two also addressed vendors who expect her to influence their brand without proper compensation. Ashabi stated that she won’t work with anyone who doesn’t value her worth, and instead, she’ll focus on jobs that make her proud and happy.
“Bills aren’t joking with anyone right now, so if I work for free, how do I pay my bills?” Ashabi asked rhetorically. “I will be saying a lot of NO this year. I want to do jobs I will be proud of, and I want to be happy doing my job, not just collecting paychecks.”
Ashabi’s post serves as a reminder to respect the value and worth of creatives and influencers in the industry.
