Ooni of Ife’s estranged wife, Olori Naomi Silekunola, has been remanded by a Chief Magistrate over the death of 32 children in a stampede at a charity event she organized.
The event, aimed at feeding the less privileged, was held in collaboration with Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Ibadan, owned by Oriyomi Hazmat. Unfortunately, it ended in tragedy, resulting in the loss of many young lives.
Olori Naomi was arrested alongside Hazmat and the principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi. They face charges bordering on conspiracy and murder. The Chief Magistrate, Bisi Ogunkanmi, ordered their remand at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Agodi, Ibadan, pending advice from the state prosecutor.The case has been adjourned until January 13, 2025, for further mention.
