Ini Dima-Okojie, a well-known Nollywood actress, has described how she was “heartbroken” to learn that her fibroids had reappeared following surgery to remove them in 2020.
Non-cancerous, aberrant growths called fibroids can appear in a woman’s uterus during her reproductive years.
After receiving a fibroids diagnosis in 2017, Dima-Okojie had surgery in November 2020.
The movie star claimed that she shared her story in public to inspire those who are coping with the illness.
Three years after her procedures to remove the fibroids, Dima-Okojie disclosed last week that they had returned.
She revealed that she wants to reduce the fibroids holistically and is not in a rush to have another procedure.
In addition, the actress declared that she would finance screenings for twenty women.
The 34-year-old actress stated in a recent Arise TV interview that the symptoms she is having are different than when she initially learned she had fibroids, adding, “I thought it was just hormonal imbalance.”
According to Ini Dima-Okojie:
“Fast forward to this year, finding out that the fibroids are back, I was heartbroken. I am not even going to front. Because they would tell you there is a chance it would grow back. I just thought it was like one in (many),”
So, when I started to get symptoms, I was like ‘no it cannot be’. Then, I was also breaking out, having symptoms I did not experience the first time. So, I was like maybe it was just hormonal imbalance, which that could be a situation as well.
“But, I was eventually forced to check because I was really having symptoms that were breaking out. Like having the physical ones that people can see. I am an actress. I am on TV. So, I go and checked and then I found out that the fibroids are back.”
