Nigerian music video director Dammy Twitch recently reflected on his remarkable journey with Davido in the industry, highlighting his first major break when he directed the music video for “Aje” by Davido.
Despite having no prior experience or advanced equipment at the time, Davido trusted Twitch with the project, a leap of faith that launched his career into stardom. Shot in Senegal, the video marked a pivotal moment for Twitch, who had been honing his skills in cinematography and video editing since his university days.
Twitch, born Damilola Ogunyemi, initially faced challenges in establishing his production brand. Despite his background in Economics, he chose to pursue his passion for video production, working on small projects and improving his skills even without substantial resources. He credits Davido’s belief in him for propelling him into the limelight, eventually leading him to work with other big-name artists like Burna Boy, Falz, and Mayorkun.
The experience of directing “Aje” not only solidified his reputation but also exposed him to larger opportunities.
