Ten people have been confirmed dead in a stampede at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Abuja during the distribution of free Christmas food, marking yet another tragedy in a series of similar incidents.
This heartbreaking event follows two other stampedes in recent days: one earlier this morning in Anambra and another in Ibadan a few days ago.
The frequency of these occurrences is due to the level of hunger and desperation in the country. The situation is increasingly alarming, as people risk their lives for basic sustenance.
May the souls of all the departed rest in peace.
