The distraught mother of Nigerian content creator Speed Darlington has made a heartfelt appeal to Grammy winner Burna Boy, begging for mercy and compassion following her son’s sudden arrest.
In a deeply moving video, Ms. Queen, Speed Darlington’s devoted mother, kneels down, tearfully apologizing to Burna Boy and imploring him to temper justice with mercy.
“My beloved son, Speed Darlington, is my only child, and he’s been mysteriously missing for four agonizing days,” she says, her voice trembling. “Burna Boy, please, have mercy on him. He didn’t intentionally mean to offend you.”
Speed Darlington was arrested after publicly questioning Burna Boy’s Grammy win and linking it to American singer Diddy. Burna Boy confirmed his involvement in the arrest, sparking widespread controversy and debate.
Ms. Queen narrates how Burna Boy’s team, accompanied by police officers, unexpectedly arrested her son. “Burna Boy came with his 7 Squad and police to take Akpi away,” she recounts.
She urgently appeals to Nigerians to intervene, saying, “Please, Nigerians, help me beg Burna Boy to release my son. Akpi is my only child, and I fear for his safety.”
