A Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, presided by Magistrate T.A. Sotobi, has issued warnings to Sam Larry and Naira Marley who failed to appear for the ongoing inquest into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad.
These witnesses include Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley), Samson Eletu (Sam Larry), Mohbad’s lawyer Oluwasanmi Falade, and others who have been pivotal to the case.
After Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, requested a witness summons, the court ordered that the witnesses be served through substituted means like newspapers and social media.
Despite the court’s efforts, only one key witness, Boluwatife Adeyemo, also known as Darosha, was present at the most recent hearing. The court has warned that should the other witnesses fail to attend the next sitting on September 30, they may face subpoenas. The investigation into Mohbad’s sudden death at age 27 has gained public attention, with his family seeking clarity on the circumstances leading to his demise.
Mohbad’s mother also called for prayers for her late son rather than public disputes, expressing the family’s grief and frustration over the ongoing controversies surrounding his death.
The case remains under close scrutiny, and it is yet to be seen whether the absent witnesses will comply with the court’s directives before the next hearing.
