The Federal Government has approved an increase in the monthly stipend for NYSC members to ₦77,000, starting from July 2024.
This approval was communicated in a statement by Caroline Embu, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations for NYSC, on Wednesday.
The decision was based on a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, dated September 25, 2024, and signed by its Chairman, Ekpo Nta, following the implementation of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.
Prior to this adjustment, corps members received a monthly allowance of ₦33,000, which was introduced after the minimum wage was increased to ₦30,000 in 2019.
According to PUNCH Online, President Bola Tinubu signed the revised Minimum Wage Bill into law on July 29, 2024.
