Nollywood actress Nazo Ekezie has sparked discussion with her recent comments on relationships.
In a candid statement, she revealed her preference for wealthy men over those with less financial stability, asserting that men are inherently meant to be providers.
Ekezie’s remarks highlight her belief in traditional gender roles within relationships.
In her words:
“I would pick a rich man over a poor man. One, a rich man will not be afraid to show you who he is. If his demon is that he drinks too much; on the first date, he will not be shy to drink because he is the one paying for it. He would want you to know whether you can cope with it or not. But, if a poor man is humble, one won’t know whether he is just hungry.
“Also, the ego of a man is built in a certain way that even when a woman uses her money to take care of him, he would still be thinking about where she got the money from. So, one cannot love a man out of pøverty. One can only try one’s best. Men are not created to be taken care of in that way. So, no matter how much a woman loves a man, if she is richer than him, it might affect his ego, as he was created to be a provider.
He will always find ways to make the woman smaller so that he can be bigger than her. That is why I prefer a man who has already made and can take care of himself, with or without me.”
