Veteran actor Emeka Okoye broke the news of Pat’s passing on his Instagram page, expressing his sadness and regret that they never got to work together. Emeka’s post read: “Rest in peace sis. Pat Ugwu. @patpat_ugwu so we no get to work again? Death whyooo ? God please.”
The cause of Pat Ugwu’s death is still unclear, and the news has sparked an outpouring of tributes and condolences on social media. Fans and fellow actors have been sharing their memories and photos of Pat, celebrating her life and legacy.
One fan wrote: “I don’t understand. What happened to her?” Another commented: “Jesus noooooo. This is so sad.” Actress Destiny Etiko also expressed her shock and sadness, writing: “Jesus noooooo.”
The burial arrangements for Pat Ugwu have been announced, with her family planning to lay her to rest on February 6 and 7, 2025.
This is not the first loss Nollywood has faced in recent times. In 2024, veteran actor Emmanuel France passed away, and actor Ayobami Olabiyi also died after a brief illness.
