Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has shared some valuable insights on marriage and divorce. The actor, known for his romantic gestures towards his wife on social media, emphasized that marriage should not be seen as a do-or-die affair.
Chiwetalu Agu advised couples who find themselves in violent, abusive, or toxic relationships to prioritize their safety and well-being. “If you have an abusive or violent partner, run for your life. If you’re in a toxic relationship, divorce is better than rest in peace,” he cautioned.
The actor also addressed couples who stay in unhappy marriages for the sake of their children. He pointed out that if they end up dead due to the stress and trauma of the marriage, they would still leave their children behind.
Chiwetalu Agu further encouraged intending couples to conduct thorough background checks on their partners before tying the knot. He warned against marrying someone solely based on physical appearance, wealth, or age.
His advice comes at a time when the entertainment industry is abuzz with the news of 2Baba and Annie Idibia’s separation. While some have criticized 2Baba for his handling of the situation, Chiwetalu Agu’s words of wisdom serve as a reminder that marriage is a personal choice and that one’s happiness and safety should be the top priority
