The widow of Nigerian singer Mohbad, Omowunmi, is accusing her late husband’s father, Joseph Aloba, of dodging a DNA test to determine the paternity of her son. This dispute began after Mohbad’s father filed a lawsuit seeking a DNA test for his grandson, claiming he had doubts about the child’s paternity.
Despite a court order for the DNA test, the two parties have been unable to agree on the testing facility. Omowunmi’s lawyers claim that Mohbad’s father rejected their suggestions of The Eko Hospital and Reddington Hospitals, while his own choice of the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan was also rejected.
The situation has become increasingly heated, with Omowunmi accusing Mohbad’s father of defaming her son on social media and delaying the DNA test. Her lawyers have threatened to conduct the test independently and publish the results if Mohbad’s father continues to stall.
Mohbad’s father has denied the allegations, claiming that his lawyer never stated that Omowunmi was not ready for the DNA test. However, his legal team has announced that they will no longer be representing him in the matter.
