Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has taken to Instagram to alert the public about a new scam strategy that is targeting people in public areas.
According to Tonto, the scam involves a person approaching their victim in a public place, falsely claiming that they made a fake transfer for a purchase. The scammer will often cry and wail, attracting a crowd and creating tension.
Tonto warned that falling for this scam can have serious consequences, including embarrassment, wasted time, loss of belongings, and even physical harm.
She encouraged everyone to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves in public. Tonto wrote:
“New scam alert! Beware of someone approaching you in public, accusing you of making a fake transfer. A crowd gathers, tensions rise, and you’re forced to either pay up or face jungle justice.
