Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has expressed her outrage and frustration over the recent false death rumors surrounding her colleague, Osita Iheme, popularly known as Pawpaw.
Edochie took to Instagram to condemn the bloggers and social media creators who spread the false news, calling them out for their “harmful and heartbreaking” practice. She emphasized that this trend has gone beyond control and must be stopped.
The actress recalled her own experiences with false death rumors, including a incident where her character’s death in a movie was misinterpreted as a real-life tragedy. She also mentioned a false rumor that her husband, Sir Pete Edochie, had died while traveling abroad.
Edochie urged everyone to stop spreading false rumors and to be accountable for their actions. She emphasized that social media has done more harm than good to society and that it’s time to take responsibility for our online actions.
The actress concluded by saying that if bloggers continue to spread false death rumors, they will eventually run out of celebrities to target.
