The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has finally given an update on the tragic death of actor Junior Pope, who lost his life in a boat accident on April 10, 2024. According to Emeka Rollas, the President of the AGN, the guild couldn’t follow through on its threat to sue actress Adanma Luke, the producer of the ill-fated production, due to some legal limitations.
It turns out that Junior Pope’s contract with the producer only allowed his direct family or wife to file a lawsuit. Additionally, the AGN discovered that Junior Pope wasn’t a due-paying member of the guild, which meant he and his family weren’t eligible for any benefits.
Rollas also revealed that the AGN is working on restructuring the guild, including introducing licensing for actors. This move aims to prevent similar incidents in the future.
