A young Nigerian man has appealed for help after accumulating a debt of N400 million following a crash involving a rented sports car during an illegal drag race in Lagos.
The accident took place in Eko Atlantic City on Saturday during an unauthorized drag race, causing significant damage and raising concerns about public safety in the area.
Eyewitnesses reported that two high-performance cars were racing when one of the drivers lost control, colliding with another vehicle and crashing into a concrete pole. The accident occurred around 4:00 PM and resulted in several injuries, though no fatalities were recorded.
One of the drivers, who goes by the Instagram handle @Trammania, later shared his experience online. In his post, he expressed shock and relief at surviving the crash but is now burdened with a N400 million debt to cover the damages.
“On the evening of September 14, 2024, I saw my life flash before my eyes. It happened so quickly, and I still can’t believe I’m alive. I’m grateful to be here,” he wrote.
He detailed his injuries, including head trauma, back pain, and facial bruising, and noted that he was still hospitalized. He also mentioned the financial strain of hospital bills and the destruction of the Corvette Stingray 2022 and Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 involved in the crash.
“Over N400 million in damages. I honestly don’t know where to start, but I’m thankful to be alive. I’ll need all the love and support I can get,” he added.
