Sunday Omisakin, a former inmate, has been arrested and remanded in the Ilesa Correctional Facility for allegedly breaking into a home and stealing a television, just eight days after being granted a pardon by Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
Omisakin was pardoned for a minor offense on December 26, 2024, as part of the governor’s prerogative of mercy list. However, on January 3, 2025, he was arrested for allegedly burglarizing a house in Osogbo and stealing a plasma television worth N600,000.
According to police prosecutor Inspector Kayode Adeoye, Omisakin broke into the house of one Shittu Damilare and stole the TV. The offense is punishable under the Osun State criminal code.
Omisakin pleaded not guilty to the offense, but Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba ordered that he be remanded in the Ilesa Correctional Facility. His bail was denied on January 10, 2025, and the case was adjourned to February 2025 for hearing.
